    Abstract
    In her August 2025 interview with Edwin Elizabeth Thomas, Annie Menzel discusses her role as a professor in the Gender & Women’s Studies (GWS) Department at UW-Madison. She first started as a lecturer in 2013 before entering the tenure track in 2017. Menzel talks about how she became interested in the field of GWS, mentioning her past as a midwife working in the U.S.-Mexico border. She also touches on how the field has evolved throughout her time studying and teaching it. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the GWS @ 50 Oral History Project of the UW-Madison Archives & Records Management oral history collection.
