    Abstract
    In her August 2025 interview, Janet Hyde, Professor Emerit of Psychology and Gender and Women’s Studies (GWS), describes her academic journey to UW-Madison. After earning her PhD from UC-Berkeley, she was hired as an assistant professor of psychology at Bowling Green University. She then moved to Denison University before eventually receiving an offer from UW. She mentions Chancellor Donna Shalala and Letters & Science Dean David Cronon as important figures for paying the GWS Department more attention in funding and resources. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the GWS @ 50 Oral History Project of the UW-Madison Archives & Records Management oral history collection.
