    Abstract
m-Dinitrobenzene (1,3-dinitrobenzene) is a yellowish crystalline solid with a melting point of 89-90°C. It is used in the synthesis of organic dyes and as a chemical reagent for steroids in medical diagnostics. It is moderately soluble in water. m-Dinitrobenzene probably enters the aquatic environment via industrial and municipal effluents and spills.
