The field of character animation has seen significant advancements, but the rigging process remains time-consuming and prone to error. Technical artists for animation have many characters that need to be rigged, so automating parts of the process saves both the artists and the studio time. This project aims to build upon my knowledge of rigging by learning to develop a rigging assistant using Mel and Python scripting languages. The primary target audience for this project includes students and educational institutions offering courses or programs in animation and digital arts. They can benefit from incorporating this tool into their curriculum by providing students with a more efficient and industry-relevant skill set as more studios opt for tools that assist with the rigging process. Rigging assisting tools serve as a solution to enhance efficiency, reduce production costs, and elevate the overall quality of character animations. By automating crucial parts of the animation process, the project aims to make the animation workflow more accessible and streamlined. Learning how to create rigging tools is essential for advancing the field of character animation in the ever-evolving landscape of digital media production.
