This study evaluates university CSD program websites to determine how they present the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders—as a "helping profession" or one grounded in scientific inquiry, or a combination of both. Recognizing that speech-language pathology is grounded in evidence-based and empirical research, it is crucial for incoming students to have an accurate understanding of the profession's nature. We developed a rating scale to evaluate the content of various university CSD program websites, analyzing the prevalence of scientific versus helping language, the promotion of research and clinical opportunities, and the presence of imagery related to both science and service (e.g., speech-language pathologists in action, medical equipment, diverse patient demographics). The study aims to ascertain the extent to which these websites balance the portrayal of CSD as a science-driven field with its altruistic aspects. The anticipated outcome is to determine if the current website content aligns with the dual character of the field, potentially influencing students' career expectations and academic trajectory. Findings may inform university program marketing, ensuring that the multifaceted identity of the CSD field is accurately communicated to shape well-informed career decisions among future studentsen_US
