    Abstract
This study is designed to assess the effects of the June 30, 1992 railcar derailment on the benthic macroinvertebrates of the Nemadji River. Changes in the abundance and species composition of the benthos will be used to determine the acute effects of the derailment on stream invertebrates and to monitor for the recovery of the affected populations.
