The Effects of Chlorpyrifos on a natural Aquatic System: A research Design for Littoral Enclosure Studies and Final Research Report

Abstract

The need for new and improved procedures to determine primary and secondary (ecological) effects of pesticides on the non-target biota in natural aquatic systems necessitated the research effort that has resulted in the littoral enclosure research design presented here. This research report is the culmination of a four-year field validation research effort that began with whole pond studies (Siefert et a., 1984; Siefert et al., 1986), evolved to enclosure studies (Siefert et al., 1987) and resulted in the present littoral enclosure design.
