    Abstract
Incarcerated individuals struggle with the culture and regimented aspects of prison, but there have been noticeable differences between the experiences of men and women when it comes to being incarcerated. (Bartholomaeus & Strelan, 2021, Greeve & Enzmann, 2003) Notable impacts are on a woman’s self-esteem and self-concepts. These two parts of our personality and personhood, if negatively impacted, can change who we are at a core level. (Bennett, 1974)
