Abstract
Al Tipton spoke with Robert Cole on January 12, 1987, where he talked about his and his father’s relationship with Verne Powell and his own musical background. Tipton recalled how his father and Powell met and developed a friendship while explaining his own history in playing instruments. Tipton also discussed Powell’s beginnings in making flutes and how he came to start his own business. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the Powell Flutes Oral History Project of the UW-Madison Archives & Records Management oral history collection.
