    Abstract
At River City Elementary, I am implementing a new phonemic awareness curriculum in my classroom. In this study, I examine how implementing a new phonemic awareness curriculum in 4K affects engagement and phonemic awareness skills. For this action research, I used observations to determine student engagement and compared pre and post assessments after completing six weeks of lessons. I found that the lessons were more engaging than the previous curriculum being used and that the data collected showed that the phonemic awareness lessons showed growth in student performance.
