    Abstract
The study looked at the success of students who used the strategies of writing to learn. The data in this study strongly suggested that writing in connection to reading, particularly through the activities of journaling, asking and answering higher level questions, using graphic organizers, and writing summaries would improve comprehension in elementary students who are in need of reading interventions in grades three, two, and one.
