    Abstract
Every piece of art--whether it be literature, music, painting, or sculpture--may be said to be an attempt by its operator to "say" something to as many people as possible. Thornton Wilder's Our Town achieved that universality through a careful selection of procedures and devices which the author used in writing the play.
